Brainstorm the introduction of our short story. Read the exposition of the story "The Lift." Draft our introduction. Wednesday: Brainstorm the body paragraph of our short story. Read the rising action events and the climax of the story "The Lift." Draft the body paragraphs of our short story. Thursday: Brainstorm the conclusion of our short story. Read the falling action and the resolution of the story "The Lift." Draft our conclusion paragraph. Friday: Participate in Peer Editing Interviews

Thursday-Continue close reading, "The Treasure of Lemon Brown." Friday-This Week's Wrap Up- students will be provided with an opportunity to review skills from this week. This week, we will be close reading a short story titled, Eleven.

Here's a scope of our week: Monday: Test on Daedalus and Icarus Tuesday: Close read, Eleven. Wednesday: Analyze the plot within Eleven. Thursday: Pre-writing for Embedded Writing Assessment 2 (Produce a short story). Friday: Literary Assessment 2 This week, we will be close reading and studying a Greek myth titled, Daedalus and Icarus.

Wednesday: Close read, Daedalus and Icarus Thursday: Mini lesson on Foreshadowing Friday: Begin developing our short stories This week, students will analyze how the author developed the plot of the short story, Thank you, Ma'am.
Monday-Students will unpack the second Embedded Writing Assessment. Tuesday-Students will determine the conflict and follow the character's journey to a solution to the conflict. Finally students will identify the author's overall message that is revealed to readers (theme). Wednesday-Students will identify the rising action events that lead to the climax. Thursday- Students will also identify character traits and determine which event causes the character to change. Friday-Students will identify the falling action and resolution of the story. During the weekend, students should review and prepare for our quiz on the short story, Thank you, Ma'am. |
